Those stretch marks are crazy annoying, aren’t they?
They have essentially no usefulness to you whatsoever, but they just there … there to bring you shame … there to deprive you of so many benefits.
Some of these benefits?
Well, one, you most definitely know that wearing sexy outfits and baring your body at them beaches is a no go.
You definitely can’t be seen doing this …
… if those stretch marks are mapping your awesome body. 🙁
What will that cute guy say to his friends about you when he comes to realize that there’s a map (map of shame?) drawn on your boobies? or your ass? or, or, your shoulders?
Bad things yeah?
Well, time to get rid of those stretch marks then …
But before that, you should know exactly how those stretch marks got there in the first place. Let’s touch on this a little.
What EXACTLY Causes Stretch Marks.
I am many things, but being a medical expert ain’t one of them. The good news, however, is, a boatload of medical experts have written on this particular subject … and from all the papers I have read up about how stretch marks come about, these experts all agree on one thing:
Stretch marks are caused when the skin rapidly stretches as a result of sudden growth or weight gain.
That was obvious enough.
If the skin did not “stretch”, there would not have been “stretch marks”. Now, here are some of the more specific reasons these experts managed to come up with …
Growth Spurts During Puberty.
Remember that period when you went from being that “smallie” in primary school to the sexy mama you became at the end of secondary school?
Yeah, that period when you grew taller, bigger and sexier overnight might have contributed to the map you have on your body today.
Sad, but true.
But growing up was not a bad thing.
What exactly happened was that your body grew or expanded faster than the elasticity of your skin could handle.
Why do you think stretch marks around the breasts are common with babes who have larger “frontal loads”?
You just think about it, the load was too much for the skin’s elasticity, and just like every other elastic material, the skin had to obey Hooke’s law. — That’s a joke but you would not get it unless you’re in the sciences 😛
Next up on the list of major causes is …
Obesity, or Simply, Rapid Gains in Weight.
Be honest with me for a minute …
Between folks who were previously “fat” and folks who have been “Lepa” all through their existence, who is most likely to have stretch marks on their bodies?
You see, even you know this.
Here’s what one expert had to say about this …
“Anyone can develop stretch marks, but some factors increase your likelihood of getting them, including:
… – Being overweight or obese. … ” — Mayo Clinic.
Another major cause of those marks (especially in females) is …
The baby bump is great, but after a stretch on the skin as intense as that, going back to the normal shape would come with some decorations.
Other causes include:
– Weight Lifting,
– Having a personal or family history of stretch marks,
– Hormonal Factors.
So, we now know how your body became an atlas of some sort, can these
maps marks be removed?
Well, let’s find out …
Can Stretch Marks be Cured Completely?
Well, according to this article from the university of Michigan’s record, not entirely.
Stretch marks can not be totally abolished, but there are ways in which those marks can be made aesthetically non-existent.
Some of the most effective ways include:
– A physician-administered laser surgery (one of the most expensive options).
– Skin exfoliation (or simply, the use of microdermabrasion) — less expensive than the prior but still more expensive than most.
– Use of stretch mark “removing” products. — the most viable option for most people.
Stretch Mark Creams (and related products).
Stretch mark removal creams do not necessarily “remove” the stretch marks, what they do, actually, is improve the appearance of the stretch marks in such a way that it blends with your skin, or is no longer embarrassing to look at (or be looked at).
These creams commonly contain oils which have been reported to help in improving the appearance of the marks.
Some of these oils include:
- Cocoa butter.
- Almond oil.
- Olive oil.
- Retinoic acid.
